Navy Smokey Eye Makeup Application

Hey everyone I just wanted to share with you a makeup application I recently did on one of my beautiful friends. We were going for a very sultry smokey eye with a twist. Instead of doing a traditional black and silver smokey eye we opted for a navy lid blended out with a matte gray and a peachy transition color. I will list the steps below that I took to achieve this look and what products I used. BTW I also curled and styled her hair :)

This palette is just sooooo beautiful and so is she :)

And this is how we did the dang thing!!!
Her face was already prepped and ready to go so the first thing I started with was the eyes. I used the Benefit Stay Don't Stray in light medium to prep the eye and give the eye shadow something to stick to. I used the Lorac Pro Palette 2 for all the eye shadow. I started with a transition shade in the crease the color is called Nectar. I blended that in the crease for all the other colors to blend into. This is one of the most important steps while doing a smokey eye because it makes it less harsh and the colors have something to transition to so you do not end up with color blocked eyes. Next I used the color Charcoal in the lower crease to deepen the crease and have a guide for where I wanted to lay out the navy. I took alot of time with color blending because its very pigmented and a little went a long way. On the lid I used the color navy but before I placed it on the lid I sprayed it with e.l.f. Studio Makeup Mist & Set(this is a great alternative to MAC Fix +) to make the color pop and I placed this all over the lid packing it on until I got the depth and color that I wanted. I also placed some of Chrome on the lower lash line. Next we moved onto foundation. I used Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in the color Gobi I applied this all over her face with a Beauty Blender I also spritzed some of the e.l.f. Studio Makeup Mist & Set on the sponge as well. Next I moved onto contouring, to highlight I used NYX Hi Definition Concealer in the color Fair (this is a great dupe for MAC Prolongwear concealer) under her eyes, a little on her forehead, the bridge of her nose and on her chin. I blended this out with a beauty blender as well. For sculpting the cheek bones and her forehead I used the brown shade Coastal Scents contour kit I also used a mixture of the white and yellow shade as well as Ben Nye Banana Powder to set the concealer. For her cheeks I used City Color Cosmetics Intense Blush Quad #3 I used the peach shade all the way to the right of the palette. For her Highlight I used Bobbi Brown's Shimmer Brick in the color Beige. This is seriously the prettiest softest highlighter I have ever used I love it sooooo much! I put this on top of her cheekbones on the tip of her nose and a tiny amount on her forehead. On her brows I filled them in a just a little with Million Dollar Brows Brow Powder in Taupe. Her brows are amazing so I just put some of this in to give her brows some color. And on her lips I used MAC Nouvelle Vogue and Gerard Cosmetics 1995 lipstick. We didn't want to go to crazy on the lips because the eyes were so bold and daring.

Billion Dollar Brows Experience/ Product Review

So this past weekend my local Palais Royal was hosting the Co-Founder of Billion Dollar Brows Natalie Plain she was doing back to back brows all day long at the store. So of course when I heard about this I signed up. I am obsessed with bold brows and she is the queen of them having done brows for Lauren Conrad, Paula Abdul and many other celebs. I was unsure of what to expect of this experience but it was exactly just that an experience! 10 minutes with Natalie not only inspired me but she was so easy to talk to and so informative and I felt like I was talking to someone I had known for years. She asked me how I liked my brows and of course my responses was big and bold. So she started filling them in with the Universal Brow Pencil and with the Brow Powder in Taupe. My brows are pretty full on their own they just need a little help at the tail. So she showed me in a mirror exactly how to do just that and to seal the deal she used the Brow Gel and a little of the brow duo pencil to give that extra lift and oomph. She was wearing the cutest little outfit and hat and we talked about Hautelook and then we got on lipstick, she told me about some brands and I told her about some and that is when the real inspiration came about. I dabbled in beauty blogging a few years ago and the life came around and I just did not have the time anymore. Anyway she was like you have got to start blogging again any way you can because you are so passionate about makeup and so informative which was funny to hear her say because I felt the same way about a 10 minute session with her doing my brows. She reminded me of my passion for makeup and was so empowering. One of my favorite thing is women empowering other women because in the beauty industry its easy to put others down while trying to make your way to the top. But long story short I plan on doing exactly what she told me to do. See below if you want to see a review of the products I purchased from the brand.

I bought all the products she used on me because my brows just looked so fabulous after she did them. I wish I would have taken a better photo of my brows after she did them but I clearly was not thinking but I will post the picture with my brows she did and the one where I did them with the products she used on my own.Sorry guys!

1. Universal Brow Pencil- The company claims the pencil is suitable for all skin tones and hair colors and that is it goes on smooth and natural. I used this to outline the shape of my brow and do the tails. Its very smooth and creamy but its not to soft to where it makes the brows a mess. I like that its hard enough to create strokes similar to actual hairs which is important to me as I do not like sharpie brows lol. And I do think it could be used on all hair colors and skin tones surprisingly It retails for $18.00

2. Brow Powder- This product the company claims to go on smooth and natura as well and give your brows a brillant sheen of color. It is formulated to stay on all day and wash off with gentle soap. It comes in 4 different shades Blonde, Light Brown, Taupe and Raven. I purchased Taupe and I really like the actual color of the product its not to ashy or to muddy of a brown so it looks really good in person. I did notice it does apply better with a more firm angled brush. I used this to fill in the sparse areas of my brow and to give it a more uniform color. Overall I liked it. It retails for $18.00 as well.

 3. Brow Gel- The company claims that this is a long lasting brow gel which gives the a radiant glow while keeping them in place all day and they claim it never flakes. All of this is pretty true. I am not sure about radiant because really how radiant can your brows be? It does have a good hold and its not sticky like some brow gels and it is strong enough to hold up my brow hairs. I will repurchase this product for just that reason. My brows are really unruly and this product is a game changer it held those hairs in place all night. It retails for $16.00

4. Brow Duo Pencil- The company claims it adds gorgeous definition and warmth to any skin tone. I like this product its creamy and nice its a nice color not to bright or shimmery so it would flatter anyone. It does make your brow pop and its just defines them a little more. I have never really used a cream product for this before I usually just use a shadow but this works even better to define your brow. I use the other end which is a concealer as a base for my eyeshadow since it evens out the my eyelid and gives my shadow something to stick to. It retails for $18.00
